When this occurs, the ADO API executes the stored procedure at first as a TDS_LANGUAGE event. If this does not return a row result set, the API then calls the stored procedure as a TDS_DBRPC event, therefore causing the double execution. To resolve this behavior the programmer must set the ADO CommandType property to adCmdStoredProc, either explicitly on the ADO Recordset or by changing the example : Set sybADORecordset = sybADOConn.Execute("proc_Name", adCmdStoredProc).
