Depending on the transaction profile involved it can be however possible to try the following workarounds : For HVAR : ========== It can be possible to avoid larges transactions going to HVAR by including artificially a replication of a stored procedure to the large transaction. That single event will lead transaction profiling processing to declare the transaction as non-compilable and it will then be applied in continuous replication mode (versus HVAR mode requiring all the memory). That workaround will avoid the memory requirement when building the very large transaction using a single CDB instance. If the customer is unable to prevent large compilable transactions by using above workaround, a solution is to disable HVAR temporarily when large transaction are failing because of the memory consumption issue, let RepServer apply it in continuous mode and then resume HVAR processing. For RTL : ========= The workaround described above for HVAR is not really possible/wanted in case of RTL because applying a large transaction in continuous replication mode to IQ is certainly going to take too much time for most of the cases. A possible solution for RTL consists to reduce first the DSI SQT CACHE size to a small value (let say 20Mb) and activate traceflag RSFEATURE,RSFEATURE_HQ_FULL_INCR_CMPL. The first change will address memory issues related to transaction profiling which is unpacking all commanfds it cans from dsi_sqt_cache into repserver memory. That traceflag will force RTL to apply large transactions using multiple CDBs and will reduce the memory requirement by a factor going between 0.5 and O.8 depending on the transaction profile. However, considering the memory size potentially involved, this might be insufficient to address the problem (if the transaction is finally to large even usign that workaround). If this is not working, there is no solution except to bypass the transaction using different possible methods. If the issue is caused by a single table or a set of few tables for which the modifications can be lost (or reapplied manually on replicate databases) , it is possible to bypass the commands for these objects by applying them the u2none / i2done or d2none command conversions options. The fact to bypass compilation of these commands that way is addressing 99% of the memory consumption the compilation of the corresponding commands introduces. But operations concering these commands will be lost. Other commands present in the transaction will be compiled normally and will be applied by RTL code as they should. The fact to declare a table non-compilable is not addressing at all the memory consumption for a specific table. The commands for an object consume the same amount of memory in the CDB when they arein compiled format or when they are in non-compilable format.
