When option FASTCMP is set to true, "rs_subcmp" rebuilt "PSELECT"/"RSELECT" statement to include hash function call. To do so, "rs_subcmp" rebuild a list of columns which are not primary key to be passed to the hash function. Doing so, current column name is compare in a loop with the list of primary key column name. When column name match, the current column is added to a key column list, but the loop is not ended. When it does not match, the current column name is added to the hash list column as many time as there is some primary key column, where this "add" must be done only once per column name. This cause non-key column to be present in duplicate (as many time as there is primary key columns) in the column list used for hash function, and when number of columns (or number of key-column) is to high, "Select" statement fail when it is send to ASE: Message from server: Message: 3626, State 1, Severity 17 -- 'The transaction was aborted because it used too much stack space. Map a raw device (or devices) and create a new diskgroup(s) in ASM that references the raw devices. 2. Reconfigure the Oracle online redo log groups to use the new ASM diskgroup that references the raw devices. The user must make sure that the new group members are the last member in the group when sorted alphabetically. For example group 1: redo01a.log redo01b.log In this example, redo01b.log should be in the new diskgroup that uses raw devices. Also, for simplicity, I used a group member alias in the example above (redo01a.log, redo01b.log). However, we recommend that the user just let ASM assign the default member name by only specifying the disk group name when adding the redo log member. 3. Add an archive log destination that uses the new diskgroup(s) that reference raw devices 4. Initialize RA and configure pdb_archive_path to point to the new archive location, check ra_helpdevice results and start replicating. Regarding ASM on raw block versus raw character devices, how can we tell if a Oracle log under ASM control is a raw block versus a raw character device? Is there a OS command or a Oracle command that would tell us this? On linux, the OS will cache IO for a raw (aka character) device. For a block device, it is left up to the user/application. The problem at the customer site was specific to block devices. Users will usually know whether block versus raw are used. However, you can also tell via a simple "ls" on linux. If the device is a block device, it will be represented with a "b." If it is a raw (character) device, it will be a "c."

Workaround Description  For supporting Replication Server version 15.5 in RMAP 3.1 1) Locate file <SCC install dir>\SCC-3_1\plugins\RMAP\scripts\ral1550.sql 2) Edit ral1550.sql 3) Search for "rs_script_version" 4) Change to "rs_script_version = "1550").
