The primary table in question has at least one text/ image/unitext column, and some database application is updating the column through writetext, something like this, declare @val varbinary (16) select @val=textptr(the_text_column) from the_primary_table where a_primary_column = 1 writetext the_primary_table.the_text_column @val with log "hello,world" 3. A repdef for the primary table is marked 'send standby' Therefore, the simplest work around is to issue alter replication definition <repdef_name> send standby off for all the primary table/repdefs described above. This work around does not have performance impact. When there are one or more repdefs for a primary table, and none of them is marked send standby, repserver uses the union of the primary key of all repdef as the primary key. However, this is not an option if the customer has to use a particular repdef for some other reasons (e.g. the target column or table name is not the same as the primary ones) . In that case, the customer can either replace the writetext command with update (case 2), or drop database subscription and use table repdefs only (case 1).
